I was hoping to host a Ruby on Rails site on my 2WD account, but unfortunately 2WD does not support Ruby on Rails. According to a post by by 2WDHost.com, the reason for this is that it's not integrated into cPanel. 2WDHost.com also stated, "The only thing we can do is to wait until it's implemented into cPanel by developers."
So, 2WD does not support anything unless it's built into cPanel? Is that how they're staying ahead of the competition? Seems pretty silly to me.
Here's a list of 2WD's competitors that do support Ruby on Rails:
http://wiki.rubyonrails.com/rails/pages/RailsWebHosts
Such a list is quite convenient when you find that your host does not support Ruby on Rails, and you're looking for a new one that does. Also, note that many of the hosts in that list also support cPanel, so Ruby on Rails is obviously not incompatible with cPanel.
2WD, get with the program and add Ruby on Rails support.
